June 1st 2005 - We won the cup! Well what can I say? We won!.. After defeating our old pals & UK rivals Virtual Sacrifice in the semi-final, we found ourselves in the final facing clan uF (Underground Forces). Fortunately for us, it was a lot easier than we thought it would be, compared to some of the previous matches during this cup. Alas we lost Nitro again! Winning in the end by 3 maps to 1. In fact, we had a much tougher game against ^vs^ in the semi-final. Our lineup for the final was Oleq, Pholix, RusTheBus & Shamen, and between them they did an excellent job of bringing the cup home to ZiT!. Because of our success, in the next cup we will be promoted to division 2 and things are going to get a little tougher. Whatever happens, we’ll be there and we’ll make the most of it. In fact we may even be entering 2 teams next season, as we have a lot of members who would also like to be competing in cups. So there is a chance we may enter a new division 3 team to cater for these players. It will be a lot more work but well worth the extra effort. Who knows, we might even win the double :)
May 1st 2005 - Spring Cup season so far.. The group matches and playoffs are over and most importantly, we’re still in it! After the 8 clans in Div3 GroupC had played each other only 5 survived. As always some clans simply give up and leave when the road ahead looks bleak which is kind off sad in a way because they may not be able to compete next season. Unfortunately ZiT! did not make top spot as we hoped, which would of taken us straight to the 1/4 finals. Instead we came 2nd having lost a 2-0 defeat to TRF which must be said, could easily have been a 2-0 victory. So we had to take the long road and prove ourselves in the playoffs versus GroupA runners up Kurve. Fortunately for us this was a straight forward 3-0 victory and our place in the 1/4 finals was secured. Up next was AoE, the German clan who dominated GroupD. We knew this was going to be tough and it was either sink or swim time, no way was we going out of this cup without a fight, so we carefully chose our maps as more tactical decisions rather than our strongest maps, in the hope that AoE had not rehearssed the new maps introduced for this cup. Luckily, as there is always an element of luck involved, we won the coin flip and got to play our map choice 1st and the plan worked. We absolutely destroyed AoE on the new map Hope and gained a massive advantage in the psycological war. AoE’s 1st map choice was Liandri which was great for us as it’s probably one of our strongest maps and again we triumphed making it 2-0. Simply brimming with confidence it was looking pretty damn good for us only needing 1 more map win from the remaining 3 to progress to the semi finals and after a rather bizzare start to Nitro, where we went 16 frags behind after the first few minutes then the server needed resetting due to technicle problems, we came storming back and dominated the rest of the game with a clean sheet, 3-0. Another great success during May was taking the No.1 position in the Euro 2v2 ladder. Oleq, Shamen & Rus-The Bus, caught Team 1 napping, even though it was them that challenged us, and bagged maximum points, planting us in a solid 3rd position. Shortly after that, Nemesis & Vo_O held off a challenge from 1 of the many clans suddenly wanting to have a crack at us, and bagged another load of points. Meanwhile, Team1 lost out again in a subsiquent match and dropped from the top. The new leaders, SWAT, must of thought things were getting a bit too hot at the top (just kidding lads, Ed) and hybernated from the ladder leaving us sitting proudly at the top. Lets hope our good fortune continues and we walk away from this season in Champagne soaked attire and huge grins all round :)
Jan 26th - Spoke too soon! Well there we were, all nice and cosy getting ready for the next Open Cup when suddenly, for some enexplicable reason, Coexist & Skillman left the clan! Needless to say, closely followed by Nightmare. This didn’t come as too much of a shock as the same three did the same thing not so very long ago but then decided to come back. Nobody really knows why and it seems nobody really cares either, so it’s time to move on. On the bright side, because there’s always a brighter side, Shamen & d3m0n will be staying with the clan and will be filling the holes in our depleted Cup Squad. The experience and talent of these two very likeable chaps will, quite frankly, put us in an even stronger position for the upcoming Open Cup. Coupled with Pholix & Relic it still leaves us a bit thin on the ground, so here’s hoping they can all be in the right place at the right time to kick some hairy arse butt :p This month we decided to give something back to the UT community in the shape of a classic public Deathmatch server. This move serves 3 purposes: 1) It gives anyone & everyone a place to play ‘free for all’ Deathmatch with a little more than just Deck16. 2) At the same time we get to test a server from a new company, GamesMajor.co.uk, well in advanced of our current server coming up for renewal & 3) We get to meet new people and players, some of whom have never heard of Clanbase or IRC or even know that clans exist... Happy fragging :)
2005 - A new year - A fresh start First and foremost: Happy New Year to all and Happy Birthday to ZiT! That’s right, it’s been a year now since we officially exploded onto the Clanbase scene and ZiT! are now 1 year old. In that first year we played a staggering 85 4v4s, 21 2v2s and 26 other various cup & official matches. That’s an awful lot of blood, sweat and tears. We’ve had some bad times but we’ve had some great times, the important thing is we’re still here and making in roads and other clans nervous :)
Confidence and stability have finally taken hold of us after such a turmoil last 4 months. Things have settled down nicely and we’re already buzzing with 2005 Spring Cup fever. Let’s reflect on a few golden moments of our brief history: July 3rd - ZiT! stopped SoU in their relentless charge to the top of the ladder in a momentous but controversal match which bought them tumbling down and ZiT! took a spot in the top 10. Don’t think we’ll ever stop smiling about that one :) Aug - Top of group Div2 TLMS Hosted Cup. We norrowly lost to b213 in the semi-final, the closest we’ve been to winning a trophy Oct - Top of group Jailbreak International Cup with a clean sheet and another narrow defeat to ff$ in the playoffs. Hmm.. Maybe best not to mention Mindcrash here :p Nov - 2nd in group Div2 4v4 TDM Open Cup. Again knocked out in the playoff stage after beating the likes off DUTCH & JaG. Just a taster of things to come. Dec - ZiT! make the top 5 in Euro 2v2 ladder. Speaks for itself really and puts ZiT! firmly on the map.
Some big point scorers: Mar 04 - 95 pts | 4v4 vs uNs Mar 30 - 100 pts | 2v2 vs NBK Apr 18 - 99 pts | 4v4 vs SoU May 21 - 83 pts | 4v4 vs iNs May 25 - 86 pts | 4v4 vs NBK Jun 06 - 92 pts | 4v4 vs CL Aug 14 - 73 pts | 2v2 vs COD Aug 24 - 74 pts | 4v4 vs MoL Sep 15 - 70 pts | 4v4 vs ^vs^ Nov 15 - 83 pts | 4v4 vs BS Dec 20 - 94 pts | 4v4 vs UHT
Next news will be an update on the forthcoming Open Cup. Rules, new maps and any other significant changes since the last cup. Remember chaps, keep it fun and give ‘em hell and let’s have an even more successful year this year.
Oct 28th Shaky Times Still Prevail Things are still settling down within the clan after the announcement that Uglifruit has had enough and has quit. This came as a bit of a shock to everyone as he was well liked and a solid performer, he will be missed I’m sure. Another much loved member Fruitz decided things were getting a little too serious for her and announced her retirement also. It’s possible that Mindcrash has also left but this is unconfirmed as yet. All this coming and going is obviously having an undesired effect on everyone but ZiT! have strong leadership and enough loyal, capable players to see them through the ordeal. Both Midz & d3m0n have contributed greatly to recent Open Cup victories along with Pholix, Coexist, Relic and even Headrush. It now looks certain that we’ll go through to the playoffs, there is even the possibility we could make top of group if NBK lose to both NFI and ourselves. Realisicly speaking, we should make 2nd which is good enough to stay in the running. Considering we’ve had to face the likes of JaG and DUTCH, both of whom we beat, this is a great achievment, well done all.
Oct 10th Open Cup & Recent events First of all, as most of you know, ZiT! went though a rockey period towards the end of the TLMS Cup. After a few misunderstandings and some settling down, the basic outcome of this was that Flux left the clan due to misconduct. Also Perp resigned for being on the receiving end of uncalled for mistreatment and Nightmare decided he would rather be with Oldskoolers, presumably because they are a top clan and he was invited. Fortunately for ZiT! there was also a sudden interest from people wanting to join the clan, so we recruited a few, namely Bones, d3m0n, HamSteak, MaDMaN, Midz & Nemesis. oLEq from the Polish clan ES joined the clan primarily to play and Captain the new Jailbreak squad. There’s still a lot of cup action going on what with the start of the CB Fall Open Cup season and a new hosted Jailbreak Cup. We did great in the Jailbreak Cup coming top of our group and were destined to skip the playoffs and go straight to the quarter finals. Alas there was problems with the cup and it was almost abandoned until someone else offered to take it on. This means that all remaining clans have been put into a new playoff system which we now have to compete in. As for the Open Cup, we’ve won one and lost one in the group matches so far and currently sit 3rd.
The top story from September is the close of the TLMS Cup. ZiT! came so close to winning their first trophy, being narrowly defeated by B213 in the semi-final. Still it was a great acheivement for the clan and one that we should feel proud off.
Aug 8th Cup News & June Roundup During July we entered our first cup wars: The TLMS Cup & UT1 Royal TDM Cup both of which are still running. We did good in TLMS, going through to the next round as top off group. Not so good in the Royal cup as we lost to iNsiders & mintgamerz, both games were very close. It's difficult to say exactly what is going on with qualifying because the score sheets are corrupt. Our new server from GDHost has been brilliant, most of us have a steady F6 ping between 50 & 60. Furthermore the server produces silky smooth demos and usable stats which most of you would of seen by now. Reckon we'll be keeping this one :) Sadly we have lost 2 talented players; Crash decided we were too good for him and Ryu simply disappeared. But on a brighter note, we have two new replacements. Tempest and Donovan decided to take the plunge into the unknown, both of whom have already shown their ability as talented players.
July 4th SoU’s Revenge Last night we fielded our strongest team available against the might of SoU in what was a revenge rematch for them. Relic, Ugli, Crash & Flux played the Polish clan in a nailbiting close game. We proved they are vunerable in any map other than Liandri, beating them by nearly 50 frags on Deck16. SoU’s own knowledge of Liandri foiled us yet again and they managed to just claw back the lead and finally beat us by 11 frags. Well played ZiT! ... That was close. One good thing that came out of it was the discovery of how to beat them next time. Half way through the map, during a game pause, Crash suggested abandoning the key points and fighting in the middle. From that point onwards, SoU’s lead stopped increasing and the rest of the map was an even ‘eye for an eye’ game. Unfortunately for us, we just couldn’t quite claw the 11 frags we needed back in time and so lost the match. Next time we’ll know how to protect a 50 frag advantage and make it stick. So when we feel like showing our faces in the top 10 again, we’ll go tap some points of SoU ;)
On a happier note... PeaceMaker has been offered a permanent position in the clan. He was unanomously voted in by the current members who all felt that he blended in well and was fun to be around.
June 22nd Server Problems Unfortunately the server we hired from Jolt has been somewhat dissappointing. Some players have complained of jerkiness, some of you have higher pings than expected (except Maj who pinged a steady 15), but most importantly the serverside demos don’t work. We all like watching these demos and they are a great souce for studying our rivals and improving our own game. We are currently looking into other alternatives to resolve this issue, stay tuned :) This month has seen yet more recruits on our trialers list, our new golden boys are: Uglifruit, Crash, Skillman, Sandino & Flux. We really are now full to capacity so please don’t invite anyone you might meet to ask for a trial, although they are gladly welcome to idle in our channel and join in the fun.
May 23rd A solid performance so far Everything is going great... We’re all getting better due to the experience of many 4v4 wars and team play is developing nicely. The Ventrillo team speak server has helped tremendously with in game communication, thanks goes to Pholix for sorted that out for us. A few new members have joined us and a few trialers have made full member status, namely: Fruits, Coexist, Pholix & Nightmare. Relic never needed to trial as he was in ZiT!s former clan OMG. Two other trial members are also ex OMG and look sure to make the grade. The main issue at the moment is changing clan servers. Unreal Tournament only servers are now available from Jolt at a reasonable price and it seems this is a good time to get one. It will cost a little more than our current server but has major benefits as in 12 players, faster response time and Windows based, making it more compatable with current anti-cheat software. Most of the clan members are expected to help towards the costs and this will be discussed with all members in due coarse. The only other thing to say is... Well done to all so far, keep up the good work and keep it fun. A 50% strike rate in 4v4 matches is pretty good going for a new clan.
April 1st A promising look ahead March was an extremely busy month for us with no less than 14 official matches played, 4 of which were 2v2. As you all well know, we don't yet have a home map and every game we play is more of an experiment than anything else. With that in mind it's no surprise we didn't get of to a flying start, dropping to 5th from bottom in the ClanBase Euro 4v4 ladder. The last week in March saw a dramatic change in which we won 4 from 5 games and recovered a much healthier position in the ladder. It's still not clear yet which maps we will concentrate on but StalwartXL and Malevolence look the likely candidates at the moment. The highlight of the month must be the extraordinary achievment of the 2v2 players winning 4 matches in a row including narrowly beating a top 10 clan. We are no less than position 19 in the CB Euro 2v2 ladder after clocking up a staggering 178 points from those 4 games. Deffinately one of those times to sit back for a moment and smoke a fat one, we deserve it :)
Mar 7th New UT PURE Firstly let us welcome yet another new member, khaRbon14 an Old Skool player who has been known to many of us for quite some time. Hi kharb :) Next I must mention that Clan Wars will no longer be covered in this news section. Check the Info Links on the War Results page for details, war reports, demos ect of previous matches. The main story today is the release of UT PURERC7C. Quite a bit has changed since the last version RC6E, there is now a facility for spectators called Coaching; this is not really intended for spectators but for, as the name suggests, a Coach or Admin. Before you all start shouting ‘Hey the Coach could be telling the enemy our position’ the Coach can only spectate 1 team and cannot switch teams mid-game. Only a person logged in as Admin can view all teams as a spectator. PURE7 now has it’s own built-in Auto-Pause, this may not sound terribly exciting to you but it alleviates the need for a seperate Autopause actor clogging up the server. Hit Sounds can now only be heard if the target is in line of site, for this reason Friendly Hit Sounds have now been enabled on our server. If you here the sound during match play, FFS aim somewhere else! Got it? Two new Player Commands are now available from the Consul: ToggleInstantRockets - Switches between instant & loading rockets. Sens ## Allows you to modify your mouse sensitivity. Another exciting addition to PURE7 is an accumalative server statistics package called PureStats. UTPure Stats adds statistics to all weapons, pickups and other events. These statistics can be viewed ingame by typing "ShowStats" into the console. ShowStats 1, displays stats for current Month. ShowStats 2, displays stats for all time. PureStats also comes with a very useful built-in TIW package, again this aleviates using seperate packages like CB12 which cause problems with players keybinds. A couple of useful weapon features have been added; Minigun now keeps spinning if you hold down BOTH fire buttons but it will not fire any shots. Also if you shoot an opponents shockball, it will now be considered as YOUR combo. Any frags from the combo will be added to your score. Last but not least, all weapons now have fast switching. This is mainly to level the playing field where some players use keybinds to instantly switch to a weapon by throwing away their current one. Personally I don’t see this as an issue but many people obviously have. Well that just about wraps up the new PURE, for more information visit the UTPURE Forum
Feb 26 ZiT! Swelling in Size It seems recruits are just like buses these days.. Just when you think one is never going to come, three come along all at once. $-e-V, an old friend of the clan, has returned to us but know wishes to be known as ReLiC. He also brought a friend of his along called PHOLIX. Presumably there’s something going on between these two but we won’t go into that here ;p Also, earlier in the week, Coexist joined us after seeing our advert at ClanBase. They are all nice lads so give them a warm welcome.
Jan 25 Spring Open Cup The deadline for signing up for this cup is today. As we are still only 4 members, we wont be entering this season, We need to get a few international ladder matches under our belts so we wont have any problems signing up for next season. As a result of this, Headrush will be supporting //MM\\ for this cup season. This will in no way effect his abilities as our clan leader :) Top of page
Dec 15 Registered at ClanBase Today we were accepted at ClanBase as a new clan, what jolly nice people they are. As soon as we’re ready we can sign up for 1 or more of the ladders and start to get ourselves reconised as a force to be reckoned with, or at least have fun trying :) Back to top
Oct 24 Proposed new UT Clan This site was set up as a starting point for the launch of Clan ZiT! Primarily an Unreal Tournament TDM clan. Our aim is to have good times, online amusement and some healthy competition against other fun loving clans.
ZiT stands for 'Zero 'idiot' Tolerance'. We are a UK clan and nothing to do with the European clans of similar names, if any still exist.
The reason for our name is simple... We will not tolerate idiots, lamers, wannabe superstars, dummy spitters, ping moaners, egotists or anyone that goes to great lengths to generally piss people off. Back to top
